Safer than a Gas Furnace

No burners that can malfunction and cause a fire or explosion!
No heat exchangers that can crack, split or rust out and leak carbon monoxide into your home!
No venting that can crack or separate and leak carbon monoxide into your home!

Matathon Water Heaters
It's a myth that electric water heaters are less affordable than gas water heaters.
Buying and operating a Marathon water heater costs about the same as renting and operating a natural gas power-vent water heater.
At about $2500 total (water heater and installation) for a Marathon water heater that can last you more than 25 years, that's as low as $100/year ($8/month) for its ownership. Add in about $50/year ($4/month) for maintenance and repairs and that's a total of about $150/year ($12/month) for its ownership and upkeep. Compare that to the typical $45/month rental cost for a power-vent natural gas water heater.
Based on current energy prices, the cost of heating the hot water that's needed for a family of four is about $700/year ($58/month) when using an electric water heater, and about $300/year ($25/month) when using a power-vent natural gas water heater.
So, in total, both options cost about $70/month.
Buying and operating a Marathon water heater costs about the same as buying and operating a natural gas power-vent water heater.
At about $3500 total (water heater and installation) for a power-vent natural gas water heater that will last about 10 years, that's about $350/year ($30/month) for its ownership. Add in about $200/year ($15/month) for maintenance and repairs and that's a total of about $450/year ($45/month) for its ownership and upkeep.
Couple that with its $25/month cost of operation and its total cost of ownership, upkeep and operation is about $70/month.
A Marathon water heater and an all-electric heat pump system can save you almost $350 per year in natural gas service fees.
If getting an all-electric heat pump system and a Marathon electric water heater can allow you to end your Enbridge natural gas service it can save you almost $350/year.
A Marathon water heater is better than a natural gas power-vent water heater for many reasons.
Safer (no more worrying about gas leaks and carbon monoxide). More dependable, and easier and cheaper to maintain and repair (less complicated with less parts). Almost completely silent (no vent blower). No smelly water (no anode needed because the tank is plastic). No rusty water (tank is plastic). Easier to install (has no gas piping or venting, and weighs less than 100 lbs). Its plastic tank has a limited lifetime warranty.
